Question by BatMan@Alt/Med: Overweight? What on earth is the good news in overweight?
What is “overweight”? Excess body fat. What is body fat? Stored energy.
Example answer:
The good news about being “overweight” is that you have lots of stored energy to do all the things you want to do. It’s your energy-bough and paid for.
Don’t worry about losing weight (ugh!), think about using weight (oh, boy!).
Do you think that, this kind of positive feed would be good in Holistic Medicine for treating the whole person?

Sorry, but study after study have shown that people who are overweight have more health problems and live shorter lives.

The only good news about overweight is that if you eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly so that you burn more calories than you consume, you will lose weight and have a much better chance for a healthier and longer life.

No, that kind of “positive feed” will not be good in Holistic Medicine for treating the whole person. That kind of medical advice will give overweight people a false sense of security and will make them less inclined to lose weight. I believe in positive reinforcement but instead of encouraging them to keep on being fat, encourage them to lose weight and tell them about its benefits.

Being overweight puts you at risk for a lot of diseases. Heart disease, hypertension, diabetes! How can you seriously say that people should not “worry about losing weight?” Please, if you’re going to give advice, make sure it’s correct.
